Cantass is the husband & wife partnership, of Brian & Eileen Smith, that goes back nearly 44 years. The kennel name Cantass is permanently registered in England with the Kennel Club and in Canada with the Canadian Kennel Club. Over the years Cantass has been involved with breeding, raising and training Pembroke Welsh Corgis, Rottweilers, Airedale and Cairn Terriers both in Canada and the UK. We have also owned and trained German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, Boxers, a Standard Poodle, Yorkshire Terrier and a couple of all Canadians. We currently are possessed by a Shiba Inu. We are founder members of the Grey Bruce Kennel & Obedience Club for which our obedience classes were a catalyst. Both of us have held a variety of positions in a number of all-breed and obedience clubs. We offer seminars to dog clubs and other interested groups on dog training, rally and DoggoneSafe We have given continuing education classes for the Grey County Board of Education over a number of years. Participated, with dogs, in programs for scouts and developmentally challenged children . Each has more than 42 years experience in instructing people on how to train their dogs as a family pet and for competition. Continually upgrading canine knowledge by attending training & behavioural seminars and workshops. Have been involved with breed clubs, all breed clubs and dog training clubs. Each has had articles published in various canine publications, some breed related, some obedience/agility related. Have written weekly dog care & training columns for local newspapers. We have run the gamut of training philosophies. From the 'do it or else', to the show and tell, to lure and reward and now to clicker. We have been utilising the clicker in our training for over 10 years. We find it is the best method of teaching new, wanted behaviours (and stopping old bad ones). Because of our long history we are, however, able to draw on our vast experiences to assist most people with their problem dogs. We train you to train your dog.
